Job Title: Research Consultant for Retainership for the Conduct of Baseline and Endline Studies for Search Nigeria Projects
Objective of the Consultancy
The Consultant will conduct Baseline and Endline studies for Search’s projects across Nigeria, focusing on peacebuilding and community development. The specific objectives include:
- Undertaking desk reviews on the project locations.
- Designing and implementing baseline and endline studies.
- Validating data with stakeholders.
- Creating comprehensive reports for dissemination with partners and stakeholders.
Research Methodology
The Consultant will use both qualitative and quantitative research methods, adhering to Search’s tools and guidelines. The process will be participatory and solutions-oriented, emphasizing the inclusion of marginalized groups such as women and youth. The consultant will collaborate with Search’s research and conflict analysis teams, ensuring the methodology respects conflict sensitivity and the Do No Harm principle.
Geographic Locations
This role will involve research in various parts of Nigeria, including the North-East, North-West, North-Central, and South-South geo-political zones. The scope will depend on ongoing peacebuilding and community development projects.
Deliverables
Key deliverables include:
- Drafting and finalizing data collection methodologies.
- Conducting desk reviews of conflict context and trends.
- Analyzing primary and secondary data.
- Producing comprehensive reports with actionable recommendations.
- Creating PowerPoint presentations summarizing findings for validation meetings.
- Finalizing the report with feedback from internal reviews.
Ethical Considerations
Search for Common Ground upholds a strict Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, ensuring the security and dignity of all participants in the research process, especially women, youth, and vulnerable adults. The consultant must adhere to these principles throughout the study.
Data Quality Assurance and Management

Consultant Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research.
- Expertise in data analysis using tools like SPSS.
- Experience working in conflict-sensitive areas and familiarity with the local context.
- Previous experience in conducting Baseline and Endline Assessments with international organizations.
