About Rotary Peace Fellowships

The Rotary Peace Fellowship Program is a fully funded scholarship designed for international students pursuing a master's degree or a Professional Development Certificate in peace and conflict resolution. The fellowship covers tuition and fees, accommodation, round-trip airfare, and all internship and field-study expenses.

Each year, up to 150 students are selected for this esteemed fellowship. Since its inception in 2002, over 1,400 fellows from more than 115 countries have graduated from the program and now serve in leadership positions at the United Nations, World Bank, NGOs, and governmental organizations.

Rotary Peace Fellows can study at the following institutions:

  • University of Queensland, Australia

  • University of Bradford, England

  • International Christian University, Japan

  • Uppsala University, Sweden

  • Duke University & University of North Carolina, USA

  • Bahçe?ehir University, Türkiye (Certificate Program)

  • Makerere University, Uganda (Certificate Program)

Important: Fellowship recipients cannot study in their home country, except for Thai applicants who may study at Chulalongkorn University.

Eligibility Criteria

The Rotary Peace Fellowships are for professionals with work experience in international relations, peace, and conflict prevention and resolution. To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Proficiency in English (a second language is highly recommended)

  • Excellent leadership skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to international understanding and peace

  • Master’s applicants: Minimum three years of full-time work or volunteer experience and a bachelor's degree

  • Certificate applicants: Minimum five years of full-time work or volunteer experience with a strong academic background

How to Apply for Rotary Peace Fellowships

Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Review eligibility criteria and ensure you meet the requirements.

  2. Research the programs at participating universities and rank your preferred centers.

  3. Connect with a Rotary club or district using the Club Finder to learn about their work and seek mentorship.

  4. Prepare required documents, including:

    • Resume

    • Academic or professional recommendations

    • Personal statement video and essays

    • University transcripts (for master’s applicants)

    • English language proficiency test scores (for master’s applicants)

    • Social impact plan (for certificate applicants)

  5. Submit your application between February and May 15, 2025. Ensure all documents, including recommendations, are included before submission.

  6. Wait for results: Notifications are sent out in November.

  7. Apply for admission to the university hosting your Rotary Peace Center.
