The Search for Common Ground Africa Program Development Hub invites applications for its Program Development Internship 2025. This opportunity allows candidates to contribute to impactful peacebuilding programs across the African continent.
Role Overview
As an intern, you will:
- Assist in crafting proposals and concept notes to secure funding for peacebuilding initiatives.
- Work with a team implementing programs across 17 countries, including the Sahel, Lake Chad Basin, Great Lakes, Horn of Africa, Tanzania-Mozambique, and the Sudans.
- Contribute to all stages of program development, including scoping, proposal writing, donor engagement, and partner collaboration.
Each intern will focus on a specific region while assisting other areas within the Africa portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft proposals, theories of change, program activities, and logical frameworks.
- Conduct desk research for accurate and up-to-date context statements.
- Support fundraising strategies and donor engagement efforts.
- Analyse calls for proposals and engage potential partners.
- Review and edit English and/or French proposals for clarity and quality.
- Represent the team at conferences and events, preparing detailed notes.
- Provide logistical and administrative support to the Africa Program Development Hub and country offices.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following:
- Hold a degree in a relevant field.
- Exhibit strong writing, editing, and communication skills in English.
- Be fluent in French if based in francophone Africa.
- Have an interest in peacebuilding or international development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Be detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of additional languages like Portuguese or Somali.
- Experience with NGOs or non-profit organizations.
- Program development experience.
- Familiarity with international environments, particularly in developing countries.
