Job Title: Senior API Developer
Location: Nationwide (Remote)
Employment Type: Full-time
As a Senior API Developer at Astra Capital Group, you will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance APIs that support scalable applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the APIs meet business requirements, optimize performance, and enhance security for integrations and data exchange.
Key Responsibilities
1. API Design & Development
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and web services.
- Ensure APIs are efficient, scalable, and easy to use by both internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop comprehensive API documentation, providing clear usage instructions and examples for seamless integration.
2. Integration & Optimization
- Integrate APIs with third-party services, databases, and backend systems.
- Apply best practices for data handling, response time, and resource utilization to optimize API performance.
- Implement version control strategies to ensure backwards compatibility of APIs.
3. Security & Authentication
- Apply industry best practices for API security, including secure authentication methods (OAuth, JWT), encryption, and rate limiting.
- Ensure APIs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
4. Collaboration & Mentorship
- Work closely with frontend developers, backend developers, and product teams to design APIs that meet functional and business requirements.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior API developers, guiding them in improving their technical skills.
- Conduct regular code reviews to ensure consistency, security, and quality across the API codebase.
5. Testing & Monitoring
- Write and execute unit, integration, and load tests to verify the reliability and performance of APIs.
- Implement robust monitoring and logging solutions to track API usage, performance, and errors.
- Respond to issues promptly, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining service continuity.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Stay informed about the latest trends in API development and integration.
- Continuously refine and enhance the API design and implementation based on user feedback, performance data, and industry advancements.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 4 years of professional experience in API development.
- Strong expertise in designing and developing RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints.
- Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, Ruby, or PHP.
- Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases and integrating them with APIs.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
Additional Skills
- Deep knowledge of API security protocols (OAuth, JWT, API keys) and rate limiting strategies.
- Proficiency in API documentation tools such as Swagger, Postman, and OpenAPI.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for hosting and managing APIs.
- Familiarity with serverless architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
- Understanding of containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes and their integration with microservices and API gateways.
- Experience in building and managing APIs for mobile applications.
