Position: Senior Lead Engineer - Structural Analysis (P3)
Overview
Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Lead Engineer (Stress) to join our Engineering Product Development Team. This role involves structural analysis for New Product Introduction (NPI), redesign, and technology programs for Aircraft Advanced Structures. You will also support various Actuation Systems product lines, including the Power Door Opening System (PDOS) and Thrust Reverser Actuation Systems (TRAS).
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead structural analysis activities for NPI, technology programs, and value engineering initiatives.
- Resolve design issues and recommend engineering solutions considering safety, cost, and weight constraints.
- Develop and implement analysis methods to optimize products and components, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Perform classical hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and prepare detailed stress reports and presentations.
- Enhance processes, tools, and methods, documenting best practices to improve efficiency.
- Support manufacturing concessions and failure investigations.
- Actively engage in new technologies and projects, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and career development.
- Collaborate effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams for product development.
- Ensure timely and high-quality completion of analysis tasks.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including stress, fatigue, and vibration analysis.
- Minimum of 7 years of industry experience in structural analysis using FE tools and classical hand calculations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hydraulic and electro-mechanical product design/structural analysis.
- Familiarity with engineering materials, manufacturing processes, and surface and heat treatment processes.
- At least 6 years of hands-on experience with Ansys Classic, Ansys Workbench, and Mathcad.
- Experience in developing productivity tools using Excel VBA, Python, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of aerospace product compliance, qualification, and certification processes.
