Role Overview
As a Service Technician at Siemens, you will join our service center team in Port Harcourt. Under the guidance of repair engineers and the workshop supervisor, you will perform various tasks including disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and reassembly of rotating equipment like compressors, steam turbines, and blowers, as well as seals, valves, and gearboxes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, disassemble, and inspect equipment with minimal supervision.
- Identify equipment issues and suggest solutions.
- Clean and wash parts; prepare reports and interpret drawings.
- Calibrate and use product information; follow safety guidelines and EHS policies.
- Perform mechanical work and evaluate equipment condition using technical tools.
- Occasionally remove/install equipment at client locations, including overnight stays.
- Execute tasks in compliance with local and corporate regulations, with a focus on quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Be prepared for overtime and after-hour duties as needed.
Specific Requirements
- Proficient in reading mechanical drawings and using measuring instruments.
- Medium-level tool making skills and knowledge of industrial and shipboard equipment.
- Minimum two years of experience as an assembly mechanic.
- Strong mathematical skills and ability to work with fractions, percentages, and proportions.
Qualifications
- Formal degree as an Industrial Mechanic or similar.
- At least 5 years of experience with compressors, turbines, and valves.
- Proficiency in English, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Experience with digital applications and measurement/test equipment.
