Position Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate tow trucks or light service vehicles to provide Emergency Road Service (ERS) to AAA members.
- Receive call information and respond to the scene of disablement.
- Identify the problem, verify AAA membership, and provide services such as tire changes, fuel delivery, battery services, minor mechanical adjustments, and lockout services.
- Arrange for or tow the vehicle following specific instructions from the tow manual.
- Conduct pre and post-trip DOT checklists, clean the service vehicle regularly, and track daily activities.
- Maintain a safe driving record and DOT certification.
- Report all driving infractions to management.
- Maintain member satisfaction and achieve performance goals.
- Provide support at special events.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid state driver's license with minimal infractions.
- Valid Illinois C-Non CDL driver's license (if applicable).
- Successful completion of drug screening, MVR, criminal background check, and DOT health screenings.
Experience
- Customer service experience with effective communication skills.
- Ability to meet/exceed customer expectations.
Knowledge and Skills
- Operate service vans or tow trucks safely.
- Lift materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Utilize GPS and maps to locate breakdown locations.
- Read and interpret AAA emergency road service rules and benefits.
- Maintain accurate records and work independently.
- Perform basic math calculations.
- Complete AAA training programs.
- Support team efforts to achieve departmental goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in servicing vehicles and providing roadside assistance.
- Prior tow truck driver or roadside service experience.
- Commercial driving experience.
Work Environment
- Primarily provides roadside service with frequent exposure to road hazards and temperature extremes.
- Minimal time in a temperature-controlled office environment.
