The Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) is now inviting applications from eligible university lecturers for its 2025 Sabbatical Attachment Programme. This unique opportunity allows senior lecturers and above to contribute to Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN) through impactful research and industry-based activities.
The sabbatical is designed for university lecturers across a variety of fields and enables participants to gain valuable industry experience, collaborate in research, and participate in teaching at SPDC JV Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in Nigeria.
Eligible Teams and Disciplines for the SPDC Sabbatical Programme
The sabbatical is available in the following areas:
- Environment: Impact Assessment, Biodiversity, Environmental Toxicology, Air Quality, Hydrobiology, Water Chemistry, Hydrogeology, Ecology.
- Corporate Relations: Social Impact Assessment and Management, Host Community Development Trust (HCDT), Stakeholder Relations.
- Community Health: Community Health, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Paediatrics.
- Nigerian Content Development: Professors in engineering disciplines, particularly Process and Project Engineering.
- Real Estate: Professors with at least three years in Civil Engineering.
- NNPC/SPDC-JV Centre of Excellence in Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering, University of Benin: Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering.
- NNPC/SPDC-JV Centre of Excellence in Marine and Offshore Engineering, Rivers State University: Marine/Offshore Engineering, Naval Architecture.
- NNPC/SPDC-JV Centre of Excellence in Environmental Management and Green Energy, University of Nigeria, Nsukka: Professors in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Microbiology, or Biotechnology with a focus on Green Energy or Renewable Energy.
Application Guidelines for the SPDC Sabbatical Programme
Interested applicants must submit the following documents:
- A letter outlining the preferred team or discipline of interest.
- A curriculum vitae (CV) with contact details (phone, email, and the addresses of three referees).
- A one-page summary detailing how the applicant intends to add value to SCIN during the 12-month sabbatical.
