A career in our State and Local Tax Financial Services practice, within State and Local Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients solve their business issues related to business restructuring, adoption of new tax laws, and communicating local tax developments.
You'll help assess our client's state and local tax burden and recommend solutions that support their overall business objectives, ensuring their filing positions align with good business practices and applicable state tax laws and rules. Our team helps Financial Services clients transform risk and compliance related to state and local taxes into a business advantage by aligning their state tax plan with their business strategy.
You'll focus on issues related to abandoned and unclaimed property, income and franchise tax, payroll and employment tax, credits and incentives, and indirect tax.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and recommend solutions for state and local tax burdens.
- Assist with business restructuring and adoption of new tax laws.
- Communicate local tax developments to clients.
- Ensure compliance with state tax laws and rules.
- Align state tax plans with clients' business strategies.
Qualifications
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Taxation.
- Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years.
- Certifications Required: CPA, Member of the Bar, or other relevant credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree Preferred: Master Degree.
- Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
- Partnership tax compliance, public accounting practices, and tax return production for the financial services industry.
- Preparation of partnership tax forms, including K-1s, FAS 109, FIN 48, tax controversy, and tax structuring.
- Building solid client relationships and identifying client needs.
- Generating new business and expanding service offerings.
- Researching business and industry trends for proposal development.
- Innovating through technology and digitization in a professional services environment.
