The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships cater to young foreign researchers who have completed their master’s or PhD, as well as foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree.
Administered exclusively through Switzerland’s official diplomatic offices in applicants' home countries, these scholarships offer opportunities for postgraduate research at Swiss cantonal universities, federal institutes of technology, public teaching and research institutes, or universities of applied sciences.
Scholarships Summary:
Designed to facilitate research aligned with the candidate's PhD focus, the scholarships are valid only for full-time research in Switzerland. They target highly qualified postgraduate researchers from diverse academic fields, including young medical doctors, particularly those who haven't previously studied in Switzerland.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must hold a master’s degree or equivalent by July 31, 2024 (except for ETH Zurich: June 30, 2024), along with a completed degree certificate. They should be born after December 31, 1988, and submit a research proposal with a timeframe, accompanied by a mandatory letter from an academic host professor.
Duration:
Commencing from September 1, 2024, scholarships last for a maximum of 12 months, with no extension options. Recipients receive a monthly payment of CHF 1’920, covering living costs for one individual.
Selection Criteria:
Selection is based on the candidate's academic profile, research capacity, and motivation, as well as the originality and methodological soundness of the research project. Consideration is also given to the quality of academic supervision and potential for future academic collaboration.
