What’s the Role?
As a System Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless integration, validation, and implementation of the Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS). This position is integral to the success of critical projects, requiring technical expertise, strategic oversight, and a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Development
- Ensure that the ICSS vendor has access to all up-to-date documentation necessary for system development.
- Supervise design and engineering processes, ensuring alignment with project specifications and objectives.
2. Vendor Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all technical and operational interactions with the ICSS vendor.
- Monitor project timelines and address potential roadblocks to maintain adherence to the delivery schedule.
3. Training
- Identify training needs related to the project and collaborate with the ICSS vendor to address them.
- Define, schedule, and oversee the execution of training sessions to ensure that all team members are well-prepared to operate and maintain the ICSS.
4. Continuous Improvement
- Analyze project timelines to identify critical paths and risks.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate delays and optimize overall project execution.
5. Solution Validation
- Plan, supervise, and track validation milestones such as document reviews, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Ensure that the system meets all functional, safety, and performance requirements.
6. Site Preparation
- Plan and coordinate any necessary site shutdowns to implement the ICSS solution with minimal disruption.
- Prepare the site for a smooth transition to the new system, ensuring operational continuity.
Qualifications and Requirements
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Industrial Electronics, or Industrial Computing.
Professional Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in control systems engineering, with a preference for FPSO or offshore environments.
- Hands-on expertise with Schneider Foxboro DCS and Triconex SIS is mandatory.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in DCS and SIS programming (IEC 61131-3) is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, and Ethernet.
- In-depth knowledge of safety standards and redundant systems in offshore environments.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communicator capable of working in multicultural teams.
- Willingness to travel and work offshore (BOSIET/OPITO certification is a plus).
