Programme Duration

• Professional Masters: 2 to 4 Semesters
• Master of Business Administration: 4 to 6 Semesters
• M.A/M.Ed./M.Sc./M.Sc.(Ed): 4 to 6 Semesters
• Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): 6 to 10 Semesters

Admission Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma:

• Graduates of recognised universities.
• Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit in relevant fields.
• Other qualifications acceptable to the Senate of the University.

Master’s Degree:

• Graduates with at least a Second-Class Honours degree in a relevant field.
• Candidates with a University degree and appropriate Postgraduate Diploma from UMYU or another recognised University with a Credit level pass.
• Other qualifications acceptable to the Senate of the University.

Professional Masters:

• Graduates with at least Second-Class Honours degree in a relevant field.
• Candidates with a Third-Class degree and at least five years of relevant work experience.
• Holders of HND with at least a Credit pass in Postgraduate Diploma from UMYU or another recognised institution in a relevant area.
• Other qualifications acceptable to the Senate of the University.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD):

• Graduates with a good Master’s Degree in the proposed area of study.
• Master of Philosophy degree holders with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a five-point scale in a relevant field.
• Bachelor’s degree holders with at least a Second Class lower division in a relevant field.
• Other qualifications acceptable to the Senate of the University.
• Candidates must submit a 500-word synopsis of the proposed research topic.

Matriculation Requirement:

• Candidates must meet the University’s matriculation requirements, including five relevant Credit Passes at O’level, including English and Mathematics.

Selection Process

All candidates will undergo a selection process, which may include a screening/entrance examination. The date will be announced on the University website.

Application Process

• Apply online through the Postgraduate Application Portal from 19th August 2024 to 31st December 2024.
• The application fee is ?10,500.
• Submit completed application forms and supporting documents to the Secretary, Postgraduate School, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina.
• Request previous institutions to send academic transcripts either as a soft copy via email to sec.pgs@umyu.edu.ng or as a hard copy to the Secretary, Postgraduate School, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, before the application deadline.
