Position Overview
The FM Global Renewables Unit seeks a dynamic Senior Renewable Energy Construction Underwriter to join our international team. This role focuses on managing a global portfolio of renewable energy clients, specializing in PV Solar, Onshore Wind, and Battery Energy Storage System construction projects. We seek an individual with leadership qualities and a keen understanding of underwriting principles to optimize profitability while aligning with client and company objectives in loss prevention and risk transfer.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive Underwriting:
- Conduct construction underwriting and insurance servicing for major renewable energy projects.
- Set guidelines, manage reinsurance needs, rate and price projects, and prepare quotations.
Mentorship and Guidance:
- Mentor Account Managers on handling smaller construction projects within the renewable energy sector.
- Provide strategic guidance on construction underwriting to the renewable energy team and broader organization.
Collaboration and Strategy Development:
- Work closely with the Renewable Underwriting Manager and Staff Underwriting to enhance underwriting strategies and foster professional growth.
- Collaborate to develop and expand renewable construction underwriting strategy, focusing on interpersonal development and coaching.
Client Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment with long-term goals in loss prevention, underwriting, and risk transfer.
Market and Trend Analysis:
- Stay informed about industry trends in renewable energy and insurance markets, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation of decision-making and key documents within internal systems.
Qualifications
- Experience in Renewable Energy and Construction underwriting, preferably in the US marketplace.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in digital tools.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster relationships and negotiate effectively.
- Ability to analyze exposure, understand policy terms and conditions, and assess profitability.
- A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new technologies and market practices.
- Flexibility to work across different geographic locations and contribute to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
