United Organization for Education and Sports Development Presents the 12th National Debating Championship

The United Organization for Education and Sports Development (UOESD) is proud to announce the opening of the 12th National Debating Championship. In partnership with the Maurice Akueme Foundation, this exciting event provides an invaluable platform for young minds across Nigeria to speak, think critically, and debate important issues.

The championship invites primary, secondary, and tertiary schools from all corners of Nigeria to participate. Students will engage in thought-provoking debates, presenting arguments based on a set of carefully chosen topics for each educational level.

1. Know the Topics for Each Level

  • Primary Schools: "Schools should be seen as a better agent of socialisation than family."

  • Secondary Schools: "The Nigerian Government has done more good than harm to its citizens."

  • Tertiary Institutions: "Africa’s underdevelopment is a natural fact, not made by man."

2. How to Participate: Competition Rules

  • Eligibility: Open to schools in Nigeria at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.

  • Registration: Participation is free of charge, and schools can join without any payment.

  • Team Format:

    • Primary & Secondary: Teams must consist of three speakers.

    • Tertiary: Multiple teams from each school can participate.

    • Teams may argue either in favor or against the provided topic.

  • Time Allotment:

    • Speaker One: 5 minutes
