Prof. Surajudeen-Bakinde is an accomplished alumna of UNILORIN, where she completed her Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1997 and her Master’s degree in 2004. She further pursued her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom, earning her doctorate in 2010.
As a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Prof. Surajudeen-Bakinde plays a vital role in assessing and guiding engineering practices in Nigeria, serving as an examiner for the COREN registration process for corporate members.
In addition to her academic responsibilities at UNILORIN, she held the position of Assistant Director of Administration at the Centre for International Education (CIE). Prof. Salman is a prominent scholar in Mathematics Education, earning her Bachelor of Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1985. She went on to complete her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Mathematics Education from UNILORIN in 1990 and 1997, respectively.
Before joining UNILORIN as a Lecturer II in 1999, Prof. Salman had an extensive teaching career, having taught in various primary and secondary schools across Kwara State. She also served as a part-time lecturer at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.
Career Achievements and Contributions
Prof. Salman’s dedication to teaching, research, and community service earned her promotion to Professor in 2012. Throughout her career at UNILORIN, she has held several key positions, including Head of the Department of Science Education and Dean of the Faculty of Education.
