Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Mission:
Solidarites International (SI), an international humanitarian NGO with over 40 years of experience, is dedicated to aiding populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters. SI focuses on meeting critical needs such as food, water, and shelter. With a strong commitment to combating diseases associated with unsafe water, SI specializes in providing expertise in access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion. Operating in approximately twenty countries, SI's dedicated teams of 2000 individuals, comprising expatriates, national staff, headquarters personnel, and volunteers, work professionally while honoring local cultures.
Main Tasks:
- Conduct water quality analysis according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Manage and maintain a standardized water quality database for the mission.
- Operate the regional water quality lab and conduct regular water quality surveillance in SI areas of operation.
- Coordinate closely with SI WASH teams in field locations and counterparts in government departments and sister agencies.
- Provide training to staff and interns, and ensure compliance with deadlines and technical standards.
Requirements:
Educational Qualifications: HND/B.Eng in relevant fields such as Civil and Water Resources Engineering, Geology, or Laboratory Technology.
Professional Experience: Minimum 1 year in water quality analysis, laboratory operations, and experience in WASH projects.
Languages: Proficiency in English, knowledge of local languages in NE/NW is advantageous.
Technical Competencies: Understanding of hydrochemistry, water quality treatment, GIS mapping, and experience with lab technology.
Personal Qualities: Strong coordination, leadership, and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently, and integrity.
