As a flagship initiative of the foundation, this programme has been a beacon of hope for female students across Africa for over a decade. With a proud history of supporting approximately 350 scholars from 35 diverse African nations, the programme remains steadfast in its mission to empower women through education.
Eligibility: African women enrolled or graduated from universities in Africa.
Scholarship Type: Offers both online and face-to-face scholarships.
Includes Travel: Round-trip expenses for face-to-face scholarships.
Living Expenses: Coverage includes accommodation and meals.
Health Insurance: Provided for face-to-face studies.
Focus Areas: STEM, AI, biotech, sustainability.
Application: Ongoing annually, requiring essential documents such as CV, diploma, and motivation letter.
Scholarship Programme Overview
In 2024, the Women for Africa Foundation has expanded its doctoral scholarships, marking a record-breaking year. The focus remains on promoting STEM disciplines, including cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, food safety, and sustainable construction.
This year, the programme offers 76 new scholarships and 22 continuity scholarships, made possible by the support of over 50 collaborators, including universities, business schools, and esteemed private funders like GMV, ASISA Foundation, and ANESVAD Foundation.
Scholarship Details: The Learn Africa Scholarship Programme offers two scholarship types:
- Online Scholarships: Cover tuition fees only.
- Face-to-Face Scholarships: Comprehensive support including tuition fees, travel expenses, accommodation, meals, and health insurance.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must be African women with nationality and residence in an African country, enrolled in or possessing a university degree from an African institution.
