Purpose of the Programme
The country team promotes technical cooperation, stimulates interest, and coordinates assistance for health development based on global and regional strategies and WHO guidelines. Additionally, it contributes to the collection, analysis, and dissemination of health information.
Description of Duties
Under the supervision of the WHO Operations Officer and the Technical Officer Operations, the Logistics Assistant will:
- Maintain an up-to-date record of all EPI fixed assets and supervise the physical verification of fixed assets, generating quarterly reports from zonal logistics assistants.
- Maintain custody of fixed asset barcodes and manage the acceptance of assets in GSM.
- Generate annual fixed asset movement cards based on WHO e-manual XIII.2.
- Guide the handling of nonfunctional equipment and assist with proper disposal arrangements.
- Conduct logistics functions at the country office related to office and official residences maintenance and management, following up with relevant government counterparts.
- Assess logistics needs for zonal and state offices, summarizing recommendations for implementation.
- Prepare monthly reports to the Operations Officer on logistics activities, including fixed assets, facilities maintenance, and stock movements.
- Create monthly inventory reports with analysis and recommendations for equipment replacement or additional purchases.
- Provide logistics support for upcoming requirements as needed.
- Verify radio and satellite communication equipment for tracking and billing, coordinating closely with radio technicians.
- Liaise with zonal and state offices to monitor operations activities, reporting on vehicle and staff movement, facilities maintenance, and security matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Educational Qualification:
- Essential: Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical/self-studies in logistics management; a university degree in Engineering or Management Sciences is advantageous.
- Desirable: A university degree or its equivalent in Engineering or Management Sciences.
Experience:
- Essential: Minimum of 8 years of experience in operations and logistics in a complex environment, preferably in an international organization.
- Desirable: At least 2 years of experience in inventory and warehouse management.
Language Skills:
- Essential: Proficiency in the English language.
Specific Skills Required:
- IT skills, including the use of word processing software and standard office equipment; formal or self-training in standard office software.
