The World Health Organization (WHO) serves as the leading authority for health within the United Nations system, overseeing global health matters, directing health research, setting standards, formulating evidence-based policies, offering technical assistance to nations, and monitoring health trends.
We are seeking candidates to fill the role of Zonal Administrative Assistant in Nigeria on a full-time basis.
Objectives of the Programme:
The country team aims to promote technical cooperation, coordinate health development assistance based on global strategies and WHO guidelines, and contribute to health information collection, analysis, and dissemination.
Description of Duties:
The incumbent will handle various administrative tasks, including:
- Processing work products and transactions across program, financial, and administrative areas.
- Reviewing obligating documents, conducting reconciliations, and preparing reports.
- Processing transactions in the enterprise resource planning system and ensuring timely payments.
- Monitoring country activities' implementation and budget expenditures.
- Supporting teamwork plans preparation and monitoring.
- Managing administrative functions and office space maintenance.
- Facilitating procurement requests for services and goods.
- Writing team meeting reports and maintaining documentation.
- Establishing and maintaining electronic filing systems.
- Administering the team's client-support/response system.
- Providing administrative support for internal and external meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Secondary Education completion or equivalent; a degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field is desirable.
- Experience: Minimum eight years of relevant administrative experience; experience in WHO or the UN system is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in office computer software, ability to train and explain administrative procedures, excellent communication skills, knowledge of administrative practices in the UN or WHO, basic financial accounting skills.
- WHO Competencies: Teamwork, respect for individual and cultural differences, communication, results-oriented, resource utilization.
- Language Skills: Expertise in English; knowledge of French is advantageous.
Remuneration:
Annual base salary starting at USD22,559, with 30 days of annual leave, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance.
